First Steps

Start playing on Moss SMP with first steps for rules, game modes, menus, random teleport, Discord, and the live map.

Welcome to Moss. This checklist covers the best things to do after joining for the first time.

1. Read the rules

Read the server rules before playing. If you are unsure whether something is allowed, ask staff before doing it.

2. Choose where to play

  • Play survival and build with the community in SMP.
  • Practice or compete against other players in KitPvP.
  • Take on private encounters in Dungeons.

3. Learn the useful menus

Many Moss systems use inventory menus so they work cleanly for Java and Bedrock players. Start with:

  • The compass in the network lobby to select a server
  • /rtp menu for random teleport options
  • /jobs browse to view available jobs
  • /duels to open the PvP menu
  • /cosmetics to open cosmetics
  • /blooms to open Moss Blooms

Some commands or menus may only be available in a specific game mode or with a specific rank.

4. Find a place to begin

On SMP, use Random Teleport to find a safe location away from spawn. Always check the surroundings before building.

5. Join the community

Join the Moss Discord for announcements, support, events, and community discussion.
